Let’s admit it, speculating on the personal life of actors is one of the favourite pastimes of the media. Of late, there have been plenty of rumours that Sonam Kapoor might be getting hitched with alleged boyfriend Anand Ahuja. The reports, quoting family sources said that Sonam had found her Mr Right in the Delhi-based entrepreneur and that dad Anil Kapoor himself was keen that his daughter tie the knot at the earliest. It was even said that Sonam would get married as soon as the ‘practical issues’ got sorted out.
It sounded hard to believe considering Sonam is a level-headed girl and has always been rather open with the media even if she has been reticent about her personal life. However, it seems the actress isn’t too happy with the way the tabloids have written about her marriage and she has now come out with a strong statement against it.
In an announcement on Twitter – the favourite medium of stars to refute rumours – Sonam stated: ‘For all the news outlet out there who are speculating about my personal life and writing unnecessary gossip about it because they think it makes good copy. If your sources are my friends and family, then be rest assured they are not really my ‘friends or family’ and if I do get married or engaged, I will announce it on my own. So stop writing c**** and stick to your real job of journalism.
Ouch! Those words were certainly harsh. While gossip may be part and parcel of stardom, Sonam certainly doesn't want idle chatter to take focus away from her work. After wowing her fans at the Paris Couture Week, the actress is now gearing up to start shoot for Veere Di Wedding co-starring Kareena Kapoor.
